I am looking for a place to buy a cast iron waffle iron-- I have a very old Scandanavian model- the iron rests on a frame and rotates (flips) using a ball-bearing type thing(hopefully this makes sense to anybody who has seen what I am talking about). Does anybody know where (in NY or elsewhere) I might be able to find another one? I am looking for the real deal, not cheap metal/electric, etc. Thanks.

This is the sort of thing at which Lehman's excels. Lehman's is the hardware and small-appliance provider of choice for many in the Amish community, or for anyone looking for non-powered gear for whatever reason.

A search on "waffle" at their site quickly yielded a stovetop waffle maker (aluminum and Teflon, not cast iron) and a whole set of long-handled cast-iron pie irons, including a waffle iron. Take a look and see whether something strikes your fancy.

A search at Froogle turned up lots of options. Camping stores seem to sell these. Why I would want to schlep somehting that heavy while camping is a mystery.
