I just started working at a job on Wall St near Water. I've just about given up on finding a decent place for lunch. Most of the time I'll be ordering in- my needs are pretty simple, decent, tasty food-mostly sandwiches, wraps, salads. The places I've tried seem to specialize in tasteless food. (Europa To Go, Flavors,New York Food). (Don't suggest I ask people in my office- they claim nothing around is good.)

I would also welcome recommendations for restaurants on the few days I'll have the time to go out. I have a mobility problem, so I'd like places no more then 5 or 6 blocks away.

Thanks!

Try Financier Patisserie on Pearl/Stone Street & Hanover Sq. They have simple green salads, soups & sandwiches. Not to mention great pastries. There are some other places on Stone St. for good eats.

The Swedish place across the street isn't bad, either, but not as good as Financier. Also there's a carryout soup and sandwich place around the corner from Stone Street on a little square on Water Street in the shadow of Goldman Sachs' main bldg. that's very good. You'll know the place when you see the line out the door. I was always fond of the Pearl St. Diner for tuna melts, etc.

Right across the street from the Pearl Street Diner is Sophie's - Cuban food. Delicious cuban sandwiches. You can eat in or if you are in a hurry, the take out line moves fast.

Definately try the Daisy May BBQ cart across from the NYSC on Wall. Around there is also Mangia which has great salads where you can pick out all the ingrediants (which are much higher quality than PAX on broad)
If your looking for sitdown the sweedish place on stone st has a great meatball sandwhich.
other than that, repost when you find something good... this area is lacking in great food.

I have been working down there for years and believe me there are good places. You just have to find them, it may take a little time. My personal favorite: Rosario's. Many people know about this place. It's on pearl street off Broad street. Not sure of the exact address. There is usally a long line out the door (don't be scared it moves super fast) You need to be super fast when ordering too. The food is great (Italian, Pastas and sort) and the prices are good. Order the small size, I'm a big guy and it fills me up more then fine. I'll let you in on a few more hidden places in a future post. I rec. you also do a search on the home page. This topic has come up before and you will find lots of replies.
