I walked past this place, yesterday, and it looks charming. The menu (Basque) sounds delicious & intriguing and prices are moderate.

Any first-hand accounts? Zagat's gives it a 21 for food, but I rarely find that my tastebuds agree with Zagat's.

I went to Euzkadi when it first opened, winter of 2001 I think, and it was great. Have not been since then so cannot give you an up to date review. You should check it out.

I love this place. It often gets quite packed on the weekends. Despite the crowds (late night), the food is consistently quite good. not earth shattering, but very solid. All the seafood specials have been great and we love their steak frites. the olive tapenade they serve when you arrive is addictive. One of the things that I find most appealing about Euzkadi is the vibe. Everyone there seems to be having a great time....the great energy and consistently yummy food keep us coming back often. The wine list is small, but decent and very reasonably priced. The waitstaff is generally pretty knowledgable as well. Give it a shot.

Planned a going away party for 10 people in January. They treated us great but we were the only table in the house. Feel like if they had more customers, we may not have had as good a time. Food is definitely decent but nothing spectacular.

I went there by myself recently, sat at the bar, and was treated by the bartender like family! They really make you feel at home, and have no "East Village attitude" like other places. It's a tapas place that's great for single diners. The small plates that I tasted at the bar were great, with that real Basque home-style flavor, and great cheap wines by the glass. I'll say this again. For those of you who don't like to admit that you enjoy dining by yourself, go to this place by yourself, sit at the bar, eat some great tapas, sip some wine, and I think you may change your mind about solo dining!

I went last year and enjoyed the food considerably, especially the seafood and appetizers. The drinks seem pricey for what you get, but are tasty. While the waitstaff was very friendly and full of advice, I felt pressured into over ordering. But, I will dismiss that as a one-time thing, not as a general pattern. Others I know who have tried it have liked the food, and have had no complaints.

Except that it can get very loud.

I've eaten there more times than I can count. It's solid. You won't be wowed by the food but you'll have a good time. Everything on the menu is good and wine is priced well. AMEX is only card taken.
