I wonder if any hounds can guide me here. I love the sweet syrup that you get with fresh tofu pudding, sold from the fresh tofu carts and in some tofu-making shops. It's also the same syrup (I think) that is used to make the wonderful Chinatown-style iced coffee. I'd love to buy a bottle of this syrup, or a can or vat or whatever, but I don't see it (or can't recognize it) in the Chinese groceries and supermarkets, although it must be somewhere, since all these vendors buy it to make their products. Any leads or ideas? As always, many thanks in advance.

It may be diluted maltose syrup, which is sold usually in plastic containers about the size of peanut butter containers in all Chinese groceries.

I think they make their own. The ones I get from Soybean Chen in Flushing are home made and has a really wonderful ginger flavor. Maybe I'll ask them for the recipe next time.....
