      <content>I haven't eaten there in a while, but even allowing for Zagat's failings, lookin there suggests that Fraunces' overwhelming mediocrity hasn't improved. Unless one spouse is a very big Revolutionary War buff, I wouldn't consider it.</content>

      <content>I've never actually eaten there, but I did *plan* to eat there one Friday night a few months ago (we like old NY, so thought we'd give it a shot).  The fairly new renovation is tacky, the dining room was almost empty, the few diners did not look particularly happy, and we were so scared off by the place that we just grabbed a drink in the adjoining bar and then split.  Btw, my martini was excellent and HUGE. I'd go elsewhere for dinner.   </content>
