Already having looked unsuccessfully at Union Square Wines as well as at the Italian Wine Merchants, I am now looking for help to find a store that sells Lambrusco wine. For those unfamiliar with the stuff, Lambrusco is a cheap, italian red wine that is slightly carbonated and meant to be drunken cold. I'm heading to the beach this weekend and simply looking to load up a cooler full of the sparkling stuff. Both stores offered zero suggestions, so any help would be much appreciated. thanks

You could also try Vino, on 27th between Park and Lex. They're another store selling exclusively Italian wine. I don't think I've seen Lambrusco there, but maybe they'll have some ideas.

You should try Astor Wines & Spirits, down in Astor Place across from Cooper-Union. I checked their website (www.astorwine.com) and got the following result plus two additional results for Riunite lambrusco.

**** Lambrusco di Montovano, Ducato 2002

This Lambrusco gets our accolades. It has the lightest sparkle, is packed with black cherries and blood orange fruit. It has a hint of sweetness and is topped off with a touch of earthiness. Perfect for us earthlings. (Italy)

Also try Nancy's Wine for Food (as seen on Queer Eye),they had Lambrusco at some point this year...give them a call delivery free on UWS to midtown west, and only $5 - $10 after that. Very helpful 212-877-4040
