Today the "Dining In" section of the New York Times had its detailed article about sushi.

Those who asked about inexpensive sushi places recently should read it and start "Rolling Their Own".

Great article. However, I like to go out for "sushi" because of all the non-sushi items that supplement a great Japanese meal -- for instance ankimo, salted squid guts, conch in sake broth, etc. Most of my memorable sushi meals have been about so much more than just sushi.

Which is why I would still like to hear your recommendations for a sushi place with great value (which doesn't mean inexpensive).

Ditto here. Still waiting for recommendations coming from a real Japanese !!!

Hiko, everyone (almost) realizes that Japanese sushi/sashimi are not the same cost as a Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich). Fish/seafood cost a lot more that that. We're not bunch of cheapies here. Many of us spent hundreds of dollars on single meals. Value is more important. I would not mind spending $100 or more per person if I'm getting quality stuff. Even better, I'll be happier if I can spend half as much and get quality stuff. You know what I mean.
