Any know where I can get my morning dose of Lemon or Almond Poppy Seed Muffins ? I live on the UES while working in the 20's on Fifth. I have been finding less and less places that can satisfy my habit.

Thanks in advance.

Ottomanelli's on 82nd and York has wonderful muffins. I know they used to have Lemon Poppyseed, although I am not sure if they still do.

Two Little Red Hens has good homemade-style muffins, and perhaps they have lemon or almond poppy seed.

Then there's Wonderfoods on 36th and Fifth, whose muffins are more commercial - but as a muffin junkie, they fill the bill. Dunno if they have lemon or almond poppy seed but they have quite an array of flavors. I like the Awesome Crumb. Kinda plain, but good to me.

Dean and Deluca also has an incredible selection of muffins, brought in from around the city (both at the front counter and back with the breads). Perhaps if you ask the manager he or she might be able to help you track down what you are looking for.

p.s. - sorry about the Wonderfoods suggestion - it is a little out of your way - when I read the original request (quickly) I thought it mentioned you walked from the UES to work at 5th and 20th, which would make it more reasonable. :-)

Two Red Hens does not do lemon popyyseed. I have been waiting for them to do it and finally asked and they said not a flavor they do.

Not sure if there's a location near you but, Connecticut Muffin has the best lemon poppy muffins I've tasted in NYC. They drizzle a tiny bit of frosting over the top...droool.
