  1. Mama Leone's closed many years ago. We ate there not long before that happened, and the food was horrible.

Try the Olive Garden instead. Same quality.

        staciegold,
Why pan a restaurant that has been closed for years? I hope you feel better.

This was my 1st date place when I was in high school back in the 70's. From what I could remember it was nice, not great but very popular. My date went very well - tho we couldn't finish our food (& I have a big appetite!) because I was infatuated & she nervous. Went to see Freebie & the Bean! That's how old I am!!!

      3. My grandmother saved an old menu of Mama Leone's. The phone number on the front is Judson 6-5151. Broiled lamb chops cost 5.25 and a bottle of red wine was $5.

        1. The portions were gigantic. The food was absolutely awful. The last Zagat rating the place had for food before it closed was an 8, lowest I've ever seen, accompanied by the pithy comment "even tourists deserve a break."

Well yes, but only two decades (it closed in 1994). And the original post in this thread is from only one decade after that generally unlamented event (2004).

I worked for pepsi Cola in 1955 and my boss tookmethere a "treat" for a job welldone. I think he was trying to kill me! The food was so awful.

            2. They couldn't even muster a decent red sauce. They didn't even try.
