Three of us were at Manresa Tuesday night. I tried to find the original post to which you replied, but couldn't. I can highly recommend Manresa. Definitely on the expensive side, but really good food. All meals are prix fixe, your options being 3, 4, or 5 courses. There is also the chef's surprise special that comprises about 7 courses or so at $88 a head. for this special there are also wines by the glass to accompany for an extra $65. We had brought our own wines, but I don't know the corkage fee ( he who would know is not here at the moment). I had the 5 courses at $75. If I remember correctly, the 3 course was $54. In spite of the price, this was a very good value. There were a couple of amuse-bouches thrown in. One was absolutely world class. If a description of the dish had been given to me before it was served, I would have passed. Does this sound good to you? A soft boiled small egg, in its shell, the top properly cut off, sitting in a cute little egg cup with an appropriately sized spoon to eat it with. The egg has maple syrup and balsamic vinegar inside it. On the top is a bit of softly whipped cream. You are instructed to spoon all the way to the bottom of the shell for each bite, in order to catch all the layers of flavor. This was absolutely ambrosia. Perfectly balanced flavors that worked!

One of my dishes was definitely of Spanish origin, shellfish on canellini beans with romesco sauce, but many of the dishes had Asian flavor elements. A very eclectic menu that is arranged from lighter dishes to heavier. If you order only 3 courses, your servings will be larger than if you order the 5 course dinner. In other words, if you only order 3 courses, you won't leave hungry! This place is a real find. Los Gatos is very fortunate!!

The vinegar in the egg was sherry vinegar, not balsamico. The corkage fee was $20 per bottle. Sorry for the error and omission from the last post.
