Desperate for a particular Wisconsin microbrew
New Glarus Brewing Company, out of Wisconsin, does not export out of the state, according to their website, although I know their brews are available in nearby states, at least. But their unbelievable Belgian Red has consistantly been rated one of the top 10 craft brews in the country. I read in a very old website (http://www.allaboutbeer.com/features/future.html) that Belgian Red was coming to Manhattan, but that's the last I heard of it.
Does anyone know if Belgian Red can be found in Manhattan or New York City at all? Sparing that, are there places I should contact that often sell beers not available in this part of the country, that specialize in importing local microbrews, etc?
Is anyone going to Wisconsin anytime soon and wants to pick me up a case?

I once found a bottle of NG Red here: Big Z'S Inc
1675 East Jericho Turnpike, Huntington, NY 11743
(631) 499-3479. I have found that many of the beer&soda stores in the boros have a good selection of microbrews. Just drive around and stop in when you see one. Or call up Big Z, I'm sure they'll try to help.

If it's any consolation to you, New Glarus also pulled their distribution out of Chicago, so they aren't simply red-lining New York.
I know some people are going to choke on this rec, but I really like Leinenkugel's Raspberry Weiss... (go ahead and choke)... it's alot better than the much heralded Sam Adams Cherry Wheat IMHO.
Why don't you check around at various well-stocked Manhattan beer depots and see if you can find Leinie's Raspberry.

The only place I have ever had it in NYC is at the BLind Tiger Alehouse when they had their Midwest microbrew fest which I think came about because one of the staff members going home to Wisconsin and returning with all sorts of Micros and various wonderful local food specialties that were served in the typical Blind Tiger Wedensday style. You may want to check their website to see if they have a similar event planned for the future.
