Ruggerio's; Fretta's------Little Italy Remembered

Does anyone remember Ruggerio's restaurant or Fretta's Meat Market in Little Italy? I had been to these places in the 1980's and am curious about any old reviews or comments. Also, I would love to get some info on past Little Italy stalwarts and what used to be in the name of restaurants and food stores.

Thanks for the link in this very old "thread". My family shopped at and knew the Brooklyn Frettas, and I vividly remember the original Little Italy shop right nearby DiPalo.

I remember Chateau Ruggerio's restaurant. We went there with my uncle Danny Schoen and it was a purported Mob hangout!
