I don't know of any in San Francisco but I know there is a place called Chi Dogs in Santa Clara on El Camino and Pomeroy. They sell Vienna with the works but still not the same taste as authentic veinna in Chicago.

I lived in Chicago and miss the dogs. Gold Coast Dogs it is not, but Moishe's Pippic in Hayes Valley served up a pretty decent Chicago dog. And I do seem to remember it having the nuclear-waste green business on it. Check their hours, they keep weird ones. And if it doesn't look good to you, there's always Powell's just down the street for some rock solid fried chicken...

I've yet to see a hot dog in SF that came with the weirdly colored relish that you get on the hot dogs in Chicago. Although I suspect the coloring does nothing for the flavor, for me it won't be the real deal until I see an odd green color running down the length of the bun. :-)

Not SF, but this isn't 2002 either. Try Roy's in Petaluma on Corona -- that green relish is there!

Thanks for the update on what went into the location that used to be Mikes-at-the-Yard burger place.
The menu shows many varieties of hot dogs plus Chicago pastrami and beef. Any reports on this place?

I would like to let you know that there is a place in berkeley that serve's a real Chicago Dog.
Little Gino's off Milvia street down from the high school.
They have all the right ingredients without the cold weather....

I tried one and the dog was way overcooked and hard. the rest of the ingredients tasted pretty good, but that wiener should have been chucked in the garbage. unfortunately I'd taken it to go so couldn't do anything about it. Hopefully their quality control has improved.
