Dear Manhattan Chowhounders,

Every year my brother comes to town with a couple of nice bottles of wine that he likes to bring to a restaurant of my choosing. Living in the Village, I have only been able to locate one or two BYO places that I like, such as Tartine.

Can anyone recommend a place with either a reasonable corkage fee or BYO that they like? The more interesting cuisine, the better, but I would most like to hear if there are any good BYO places out there.

Thanks.

Good timing -- did you see the article in today's Times about Monday nights at Montrachet (frustratingly, the article did not actually specify the "reduced" corkage fee).

I believe the article stated that Montrachet "dropped" the corkage fee. The article also indicated that Beacon does a similar thing on Sunday nights.

No, I haven't seen that yet. I'll have to log on. Montrachet and Beacon. Hopefully I can find something for this Saturday.

Thanks,

Ivo and LuLu on Broome near the Holland Tunnel is completely BYO. The food is good, with a slighly Caribe take on organic produce and game, and the prices are unbelievable - $10 entrees like roast rabbit sausage with couscous. Nice staff, too. The only downsides are that the menu is very limited - maybe 4 entrees, 4 apps. Still, best NYC BYO I know.
