SF Hall of Justice taco truck almost mitigates jury duty
Granted, I only got to try one thing before being dismissed yesterday, but the prospect of six weeks' service was made more appealing after those delicious tacos. I ordered two chicken super tacos, which came with tender, moist chicken, guacamole and sliced, cooked jalapenos. In the other wells of my to-go container were pinto beans with cheese, rice, a grilled, whole scallion and those pickled vegetables (forget what they're called). I also got two little containers of salsa: a smoky cooked one and a tomatillo-based salsa verde--both very good. Very delicious and satisfying for only $5 (though individual tacos cost $3.50).
Besides tacos, they have burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, nachos, candy bars, sodas and those "Cup Noodle" things, so it's a hybrid taco truck/ office-worker-food truck. They open at 7 am and serve breakfast burritos until 10. I didn't see any champurrado or any of the more obscure meat options (though I don't know what "sesos" and "chivos" are).
The truck, "El Norteno," is at the corner of Bryant St. and Harriet alley, right across the street from 850 Bryant. It's not the most scenic spot in the city to sit outside for lunch, but there is a low wall and some grass in front of the Hall of Justice.

What a deal! Were those soft tacos or hard-shelled? Sesos means brains and chivo is goat kid, as in birria de chivo.

While I do believe the US beef supply is safe, nagging concerns about prions or other neural diseases not yet discovered keep me from eating brains of any kind. Giving up squab brain was the hardest. But chivo is another matter. A couple months ago someone had posted that it was hard to find birria in SF made from goat, that most were lamb. This could be an important find.

Well, "sesos" are pretty exotic--they're brains! Not to be confused with "cabeza" which is more like cheeks--meat off the head. Not sure about "chivos" though.
