one of these days when I finally start wedding planning it will include a cake by Colette Peters. Each one is a fantastical work of art - I walk by her Washington Street studio all the time and gaze in the window. One of my favorites is the totally absurd multi tiered meat cake that's been in the window for quite some time now. she's really out of control!

Number of people?

Focused more on interior (flavor) or exterior (decoration)?

On the cheap? Middle of the road? High end?

Thanks.

I would very highly recommend Ron Ben Israel. I would personally never order a wedding cake from anyone else. As a pastry chef myself, I really respect Ron's designs and his cakes.

Another very good choice is Sylvia Weinstock.

Michelle Doll Cakes is great too. She trained with Ron and was a pastry chef at a patisserie here in Brooklyn. She's great and probably not as pricey as the bigger names. She's been on Food Network now so who knows how long that will last.
