Hi
I'm going to Salon de mexico tonight and was wondering if anyone has any faves/must haves that you'd recommend. Espcially interested to see if their mole is good and what desserts are worthwhile...
thanks!

At our one dinner there, I really enjoyed the duck main course ("mole verde con pato") -- very interesting and tasty combination of flavors.

William Grimes just reviewed Salon Mexico in this past Wednesday's "Times." I've included a link below.

one of the sides that acommpanies many of the dishes is creamed/mashed corn - I've had it with the duck mole and the braised pork ribs - it is wonderfully nuturing, soul satisfying. I thought the chestnut soup with chipolte and pomegranite seeds was beautiful - the deepness of the chipolte, the bright juiciness of the pomegranite seeds and the thickness of the chestnut soup worked really well together. Wanted to try the chile nogada but they were out unfortunately. The duck empanadas were a bit mushy. The black beans and mexican rice were simple and perfect.
