Does anyone know of any Korean bakeries in Manhattan other than the mediocre Pari Pari Ko? There desserts seem overpriced and made with more attention to shelf life and appearance than deliciousness.

Thanks,
Frank

Check out Koryodang. Two stores in Flushing and looks like one on the Korean strip of 32nd St. Check out the link below for exact locations. By the way, this is the place Galleygirl was trying to describe in her Flushing post.

Wow, nice work Eric. I was just daydreaming of those chestnut cakes you had. Now I know where get my local fix. Cool rollovers on their site two that show the product's center.

Thanks,
Frank

I was about to say that they left the 72-22 Roosevelt Ave location off the web site but notices that they have the smaller "express" locations listed separately. And to veer the discussion back more on topic, note that there is a Cooper Square express location too. I just wish they opened earlier.

Haha... that means the place I'm talking about, near the Village Voice, is a Koryodang express location. I never noticed the name, since it's part of this monolithic internet/computer center.

Just double checked and the 32nd St. branch of Koryodang hasn't opened yet, but should be soon.

The internet near the Village Voice, Web2Zone, I think it's called, is owned by Samsung, which I guess explains why it has a little Korean cafe on the lefthand side as you enter. I always hit the place in the evening, when almost everything is gone, but I've had some interesting savory pastries there, such as tuna in a doughy wrapper.
