I need help.

I am coming to New York next weekend to perform at the Gotham Comedy club at 34 W. 22nd St btw 5th and 6th Ave. I will be meeting a bunch of people there and I would like to have dinner with them after the show.

Is there a place nearby that could seat a big party (12-18) people? I don't necessarily care about the type of food as long as it's good and reasonable.

Maybe a place with a back room I could call ahead to and reserve?

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

El Quixote on 23rd bw 7th/8th could be a fun idea. its definitely a little on the over the top side, but i had a blast there for my friends 30th bday party last month. there was about 20 of us. good food, reasonably priced.

I've seen big groups at Blue Water Grill (Union Square W. & 16th St., 212-675-9500). It's a large, attractive restaurant in a renovated old bank which, as the name indicates, specializes in well-prepared seafood. Though not cheap, prices are not outrageous. They might be able to set you up separately on their upstairs balcony.

Cal's (W. 21st St, btw 5th & 6th Avs., 212-929-0740) is a casual place serving Mediterranean-style cuisine at reasonable prices. I haven't been there myself, but have heard good things about it. Call and see if they can accommodate your needs.

Good Luck with your performance at the GCC and Bon Appetit!

There is a great neighborhood restaurant on 7th Ave and 16th Street called Raymonds Cafe. They have a private room downstairs and the food is delicious and very very reasonable. We take our guests and friends there all the time because it is so good and dependable. I highly recommend this place. 212-929-1778, ask for Theresa.

When my office went to GCC, we ate at a nearby Monster Sushi. The sushi's definitely "American-style" in that it's large and its quality doesn't exactly rival Nobu or Kuruma Zushi, but the food was tasty and plentiful and the staff accomodated the lg party with no problems (we called to reserve space 1 day ahead).

i strongly suggest you all just stoll west down the block to CAL'S. it is a great place. spacious seating, nice med/usa style food and great service. the building interior is very lowkey new york cast-iron too. it's just the perfect place for you to decompress and debrief after your gig. break a leg.
