THE CHOCOLATE BAR review

i finally checked this place out on a grey rainy day. i had the spicy hot chocolate drink that was good but not all that spicy. it's not too sweet but tastes great and just right (unlike the kind of gross spicy JACQUES TORRES version in dumbo, brooklyn). i also took home a spicy mexican chocolate brownie and it was molten chocolate goodness and most suprizingly of all spicy as all get out. wow, i could only eat part of it but it is truely liquidy spicy good.

when i ordered they called it a "spicy spicy" order which was cute. cost was $5.95. they have other delicious looking treats like bon bons, mini sunken souffles and earl grey flavored chocolates too. this may be a nice place for cold and bad weather i think.

    1. You sound intoxicated by all that chocolate!

Where and what is this place you are describing?

intoxicated? you bet i was! especially since i'm not usually much of a chocolate fan. see below for their updated website.

the other poster is correct the mexican brownies are very spicy and maybe not for everyone. i could only eat a bit at a time. but i am knocked out by how great they are and how molten inside rather than the usual dried out regular brownies you typically find elsewhere.

              • Actually I found that brownie way too spicy! I thought it would just have a hint of spice but it was like a jalapeno burrito!

Also, I had a couple of the non-Jacques Torres chocolates (the really pretty ones on the left-hand side of the counter), like the orange flower water pistachio and the tri-color praline, and unfortunately to me they just tasted like sugar with no other flavor. But maybe I went on the wrong day.

                  1. wait, doesn't the chocolate bar use Jacque Torres spicy chocolate mix??!?

I'm pretty sure they do, or so I've read.

                        • Man I love that brownie! And I agree the hot spicey choco is right for rain.

I've been going there for almost a year and the pastries change all the time. Good place. The brownies have been there for a while. and get better with age. I like the people who work behind the counter too. They're saucy...
