Best Egg & Cheese on Wall Street?

I am in search of this, ever since my beloved, grungy New Street Cafe, on disgusting New Street, disappeared one day. They melted the cheese so skillfully, while the eggs were frying...

Now I'm lost in a world of cheese slapped right on the bread...

Any recommendations or personal anecdotes?

  1. It's been a while, but when I worked on the NYSE floor, there was a guy named Tony with a grease truck right outside of 8 Broad Street. If he is still there, you have found not only the best egg and cheese on Wall Street, but the best egg and cheese EVER.

The truck is still there. Though, sadly, I believe that Tony has passed away. His wife still works in the truck with a younger guy who might be her son or son-in-law, but I'm not really sure. The egg and cheese sandwiches are still excellent.

In 1997, there was a truck on Wall St. and Front Street. I think the guy was called Pete. He made the best egg, cheese, & pork product sammies that I have ever had. I don't know if he's still there, but those were outstanding.

I just found this thread, over seven years later.... anyone know if this truck is still around? I'm in search of the a great egg & cheese sandwich near 40 Wall St.
