Does anybody know of a good sports bar to watch college football? I'm specifically looking for one for Thursday, 8/29. Hopefully one which doesn't mute their TVs. Thanks.

I hear good things about Park Ave... I also know that BLONDIE'S, on W. 79th, plays lots of games, and doesn't always mute the sound. I think it depends on who is playing, and how big the game is.

Ship of Fools on 2nd Ave twixt 82/83 has a billion tvs, will take your res, will plop you right in front of the one you want and you will probably encounter fans of your ilk there who will slap you on the back and help you eat your (excellent) wings....I go there for NFL, but I've been for NCAA games too...it can get crowded before, during and after games, but sometimes, that's sort of the point. Sometimes you can't get in without a res, so you might want to call ((212) 570-2651) and check...

Different bars are meeting place (formal and informal) for different alumni on fall Saturdays. My recollection is the Florida Gator fans go to the Sporting Club, Alabama fans frequent the Park Ave CC and Blondies is the meeting spot for Ohio State fans. I don't know much about Thursday nights.
