Great Chowhound SoHo Recommendations

Just got back from a weekend trip to the city and wanted to thank all those who had recommendations for "musts" in SoHo. The information was great to have, and proved to be spot-on. Some highlights....

Burger and fries at Broome St. Bar:

Was skeptical about the "burger-in-a-pita approach, but the pita really let the taste of the burger and other ingredients (bacon and cheddar) shine through. An interesting approach that worked well for me.

Lunch at Snack (on Thompson):

GREAT fresh well prepared Greek food. Reasonable prices, apps, and interesting main dishes. Very well done. Would go back in a heartbeat. Small place, but worth the wait.

Lunch at Lombardis Pizza:

Have read the threads/seen the debates. I thought it was a great pie. Had a Sausage and cheese w/fresh garlic. Cheese was incredibly fresh and tasty, while the San Marzano sauce was bursting with flavor. Slightly charred crust was really tasty. Ordered a small, and took 3 slices back to the hotel. Really good recommendation (having said that, also had a slice at "joe's' on I think, Carmine and Bleecker. Found it to be lacking. slice had been sitting around and was dried out. After re-heating it tasted mostly like cardboard. No oil dripping whatsoever (which I am partial to) All-in-all, disappointing)

Sullivan St. Bakery Roman Style Pizza:

A really nice, different kind of slice. Wafer thin crispy crust with really fresh, tasty ingredents served at room temp. Had a funghi slice (absolutely loaded with different kinds of 'shrooms) and a pomodoro slice (crust with tasty red sauce) Probably hard to make a meal out of, but all in all, a wonderful snack. (breads and pastries looked great too!)

Balthazar:

Had breakfast there. A bit on the "trendy" side, but solid croissants, cafe etc.

Again, thanks to one and all who had recommendations. Hope to hit the rest of the recommendations next trip. Nice job Chowhounders!
