A year or so ago I read a post on the alt.food.sushi newsgroup about rebaa sashi(raw calf liver) at a place called Lan or Ran in lower Manhattan and was intrigued. I'm in Dallas but will be visiting in March. Can anyone provide me with more information about this place and the rebaa sashi? Thanks.
I don't know the precise details but the place would most likely be Lan at 56 third Ave. (bet 10 & 11th St.), 212-254-1959. One of the owners is supposed to be in the beef business. They have grills for cooking your own meats(robata?) Nice little bar as well. I've only had the Sushi there which was good quality. It's a nice room, a bit dark for Sushi but warm feeling. Kinda cozy yet clubby.
