Cello and Etats Unis

Very disappointing dinner at Etats Unis last week. Waitress informed us we had to order right away as we needed to be out in a hour and a half (annoying) Very limited menu to begin with which is fine if the food is good. Pork chop was served raw and took 25 minutes to return. Lobster served with grapefruit and other strange things average at best. Grilled salmon served raw and tasted very fishy.
Overall, pretty lousy meal for $250 for three.
Dinner at Cello last night was amazing. Great service, amazing food and an overall delight. Despite high prices, place is great for a special occasion. The crab gratin is oustanding as is the seafood risotto. The grilled ahi tuna is another winner. Would highly recommend.
Agree with you on Etats Unis. I was there about a year ago and had to wait 45 minutes for our reservation to find out that they were out of half the things on the menu. What was available seemed to have been generated by a kind of "Mad Libs" approach to dish preparation; e.g. _(grilled)_ _(lobster)_ with _(mole)_ sauce and a side of _(fennel)_. Fortunately we got out for $100 for two...
