Anybody tried Risa or La Pizza Fresca?
Anyone here tried that newer place on East Houston called Risa? How are their pizzas? I am a really big fan of individual pizzas (i.e. the simple pizza margherita), and reading Eric Asimov's review made me want to check it out.
On a related note, how does La Pizza Fresca stack up for their individual pizzas? And finally, given a choice between the two (for pizza), what would you guys choose? Thanks.
I've gone to both several times and I think Risa is far superior. At PF, the pizza has a tendency to be underdone and soggy in the crust. WHile the ingredients are great, the pizza at Risa reminds of the pizza they serve at most establishments in Roma, which is to say, great. Risa also has amazing entertainment on Tuesday and Thursday...a live cuban band making it a very lively (but not too loud) place to dine. The owners were responsible for starting Serafina's Fabulous Pizza, which also serves great pizza (amid a dimsally clublike atmosphere). Hope that helps.
