Veselka, Kiev/Cafe Zoo, or B&H

Ok,

My roommate and I love getting good breakfast (specifically pancakes or challah french toast) on weekends. Not a brunch either - just breakfast. So, we were debating between Veselka, Cafe Zoo, and B&H for pancakes and french toast. Which of the three makes the best pancakes? Which one makes the best french toast? Which one do you guys like the best period? Thanks a bunch.

    1. Well, as an NYU alumni, I can sympathize with how poor one suddenly becomes upon stepping foot into their fine institution. Keeping this in mind, I can say with confidence that these places are cheap enough so that you can try all three and decide for yourselves! I am particularly fond of Veselka's french toast (I can't stand pancakes period - I grew up with crepes). Also, you might want to include Odessa (on Av A) in your itinerary. Odessa in particular is excellent for that deep fried yearning at 3:45 AM after calling it a night.

        1. re: Minty

I must dissent on Odessa. I find their food so excessively salty it's inedible.

            1. re: Pan

I have to agree on Odessa, the food is waaaay too salty and the peirogies are of the frozen variety.

            2. Veselka's raspberry pancakes are excellent. Zoo has recently re-opened, so I can't say how the food is now. I've never been a big fan of B & H.
