  1. up around 55th there's some well known irish joint. Their specialty (come food fest) are these smoked pig shank/knuckles, that remind me of the one's you get at octoberfest. Also down by port Auothrity the dos mexicanos, Jams & the new african joint might brak out some goodies. Back in the day mazzela's 9the fruit & veggie wholesaler right below world plaza)used to bust up coconuts.

Ned Kellys. They will be there with their roast.
It is also an occasion for all the neighborhood folks
to gettogether with their families. Does get crowded.

    2. Hi,

Could you pass on some details about the Food Festival? Both days? And where along 9th Avenue does it extend to? (My first summer in NY...looking forward to some chowing this weekend!)

      Thanks

      2. Starting from my side of the Avenue: 57th

Stroll down 57th, Ned Kellys will have a pig on the spit, so to speak. There will be Paella from the Spanish restaurant. 50s Uncle Nick's will put out tables, with standard greek fare. Mazzella Produce Market at times puts out coconuts - with and without spiking with
alcohol (in the past). Expect Rice&Beans to have Brazilian fare. Halo Berlin will put their sausages and draught beers. Dakshin 50th, will put out standard indian samosas, and other curries. Chez Suzette will have escargot in butter, frogs legs.

Bruno's Ravioli will have their pastas, Little Pie Company has stuff on 43rd. The Fish market International Food, will put out various kinds of seafood - Oysters,clams,crabs....

Many food vendors from outside the neighborhood will add to various other cuisines. Last year the weather wasn't that great. Thunderstorms predicted for Saturday, according to weather.com.

Is that this SAt? If we're going to the theater, should we just go to 9th Ave @ 6 pm & stroll @, or is that too late? Any specific suggestions for a good restaurtant @ 9th Ave & 58th St?
