My wife and I will be in NYC this weekend, staying in the Lexington & 30th area. We would appreciate suggestions from fellow Chowhounds for not too expensive places to eat in the neighborhood. Require decent wine list! Have seen postings for Marchi on 31st at 2nd. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

  1. You are staying right by Manhattan's Little India. The Indian restaurants in that neighborhood have been covered extensively. Look for threads mentioning Madras Mahal, for example.

sorry you've had to post again. here are my choices

les halles: 411 park ave sth, @28th st 679-4111. up there with best french fries and steaks in town. go at lunch time for quieter room. the tin roof and mirrors make for very loud din at night

i agree with pan- there's good indian food around here. mavalli palace, 46 e 29 st, b/w madison and park av sth, 679-5535. very good veg indian tho my meat eating chums like it too.

you might also want to consider patria(sth american) and/or union pacific (not the usual new american)
