Where should i go?????
I am going to be in New York in a few weeks and I am trying to decidewhere to eat.
I am a chef who used to live in Manhattan, and the last time i visited was about a year and a half ago. I am familar with many restaurants there, but I am looking for suggestions on some great new restaurants.
I am considering Craft and Artisanal. How are they?
Any other suggestions? Where are the best desserts?

I haven't been to Artisanal yet, though I'm excited to try it. The food at Craft was wonderful. The a la carte ordering takes quite a bit of getting used to and it is very easy to over-order.
The highlights, to my surprise were the vegetables. The Jerusalem artichokes and the varieties of roasted mushrooms were out of this world. The short ribs were also delicious.
The service was good, though we had a very long wait for our (reserved) table -- on a Tuesday. It is quite an expensive place, but I would definitely recommend it, and plan to return.
Hi, Elizabeth! Try a search on the Chowhound homepage for those two restaurants--I think they've been commented on fairly recently on a couple of threads. Also, you might want to be more specific about what kinds of desserts you're searching for. Do you want ideas in Manhattan or all the boroughs? There's a ton of stuff here on great new restaurants and bakeries these past 18 months.
