I'm going pre theater tonight. I've been to Osteria Laguna on 42nd and 2nd (they're related)and loved it but never been here.
Any suggestions?

  1. I've been there, but it may be a while before I return. While the food may be good, a cockroach crawling on the table sort of spoils the mood. I know roaches are "everywhere" in NY restaurants but I have not seen them everywhere. A roach sighting may get you a free glass of wine, but it's not worth it to me. Also, the management is kind of rude too.

Thanks. I was there a few nights ago and food was decent but the place was LOUD during the pre theatre rush. I mean REALLY LOUD-couldn't hear myself think.

In fairness, I haven't been to "Doge" in years, but it always struck me that they have one of the most fortuitous locations in New York. They are just close enough to the midtown Sixth Ave. location to be mobbed at lunch, and close enough to prime theater area to be mobbed at early dinnertime. It would never occur to me to go out of my way to eat there.
