Hi,
I had an oustanding dinner at Marika (W. 70th st., next to Cafe Luxembourg) on Saturday night. The restaurant has a new chef (former sous-chef from Lespinasse) and a new general manager (Daniel DeLa Rosa, from restaurant Daniel), both acquired since the NYT and New York magazine reviews. As the reviewers described, the space is stunning. The food, however, is now uniformly excellant. I would strongly recomend everything I tried:asparagus-lime risotto with lobster, gazpacho with Maine peekytoe crab, sauteed diver's scallops with saffron and lobster, and for dessert a passion fruit creme brulee. The meal was excellant, and I strongly encourage chowhounds to nurture this rarity: a really good restaurant on the west side. Based on one meal, I would rate this restaurant above Picholine and Nougatine. Prices were reasonable for a restaurant of this quality (appetizers $10-16, entress ~$20, dessert $9).

    I at at markia a week ago, after the new chef started. We waited an hour and a half and never got our appitizers. We walked out. This was the second time that I ate there and had a horrible experiance. STAY AWAY.
