Craft, Artisinal and others

My wife and I took a bit of a dining excursion around (roughly) the Gramercy Park area last Friday. These are the results:
Gramercy Tavern - Had a glass of wine and shared a great salad of fava beans, radishes, walnut pesto and pecorino at the bar. As great as it always is.
Chicama - Shared an order of ceviche which included shrimp, scallops, octopus and calimari in a spicy saffron scented broth paired beautifully with a bottle of Duvel. My first time there, and I'd go back. A fun, funky midday stop, and, to my pleasant surprise, the fire in my mouth extinguished rather quickly.
Craft - Popped in around six and got a seat at the bar. Loved the look of the place and the bartender was very Gramercy-like - friendly, casual and knowledgeable. The food we had was the best we had all day. Probably the best scallop I've ever had, served with some asparagus. Followed that up with some beautifully rare, not overly gamy, squab, some morels, polenta and ramps. Lots of chefs talk about keeping things simple and pure, but in my mind Colicchio does it better than any chef I can think of. Highly recommended.
Artisinal - Stopped in with the intention of getting a glass of wine and some cheese. Ordered the wine and then realized we weren't quite ready for cheese yet. Nice selection of wines by the glass, but the place wasn't quite what I had expected. Much more of an open restaurant with an almost incidental bar at the front. Not a knock at the place, I had just expected it to have a bit more of a wine bar type atmosphere.
Veritas - Always enjoy stopping at the bar here. Had an excellent gingerbread cake with a delicious ice cream whose flavor escapes me at the moment (the accumulation of wines consumed by this point? - nah) and a glass of port.
Molly's - A couple pints of Guinness and a dozen selections from the excellent juke box.
Thought about heading back to Gramercy for some sorbet, but my wife convinced me otherwise
