Does anyone have a recommendation for one of the great, expense account type New York restaurants that might take an early, one person walk-in or have a dining at the bar option. I'm going to Manhattan tomorrow (Tuesday), so any quick info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Patrick

If you're talking before 6 p.m. or after 9:30, you can probably get in almost anywhere but Nobu on a Tuesday if you call just a couple of hours in advance. (Walk-ins are more problematic.) But you can also sit at the bar or its equivalent at Next Door Nobu, Gramercy Tavern, Jean-Georges, Babbo, Esca, Daniel, etc.

How about The Four Seasons -- not the hotel -- on 52nd, between Park and Lexington?

The front room at the Gramercy Tavern is always lovely and accessible if you go early. Also, Picholine has a nice, albeit small, bar where you can have dinner if they don't have space. I read somewhere on the board that Babbo has a similar bar set up.

        Lucky you! Enjoy.

I've gone into Nobu at 6PM without reservations a number of times and have always been seated immediately, either at the bar, or on telling the hostess that we'd be out in an hour at a table. Similarly, I've had good luck walking in to Union Square Cafe and getting a seat at the bar or a cancelled party's table.
