skate wing

Before Indigo became Merge(10th street west of 6th Ave) they often had skate wing on the menu and their preparation of it was superior. Does anyone know where skate wing is currently being offered? I've started salivating for it again after seeing it as the main ingredient on this week's Iron Chef. (PS, Did anyone see the famous chef punch the assistant in the head twice?)

Stefany, I have had wonderful skate at Noodle Pudding in Brooklyn Heights. It's been a while, but maybe it's a standard on their menu. You could give them a call. It's a place I've enjoyed very much. pat

Had great skate wing at a Portuguese place called Pao, on very west Spring St. But that was 3 years ago. I don't even know if it's there anymore.

Had a good one (asparagus crusted, no less) at City Hall during Winter Restaurant week. Don't know if it's on their regular menu, though.

I love the skate at 21 Madison, which is often garnished with a totally smokin' Grenobloise, and also the much maligned-here version at Judson Grill.

I have to say that the skate Grenobloise at Eleven Madison Park was the one thing I've had there that I didn't find worth my time. I like skate, but I found this one boring--which is why I didn't post to this thread before, even though it's always on the menu there.

Pao is still there, and still has the skate wing. However, the food seems to be more haphazard than it used to be, although in warmer weather it's still a fun place to sit outside, drink vinho verde and people watch.

My husband and I had excellent skate on Saturday night at Chez GooGoo in Williamsburg--citrusy brown butter sauce with capers, mashed potatoes and spinach. An enlightened version of a classic preparation. I won't dissemble--we're very good friends of the owners! They're at 718-218-8001!

Thanks to all for all the suggestions. I'll report back about where I end up having it and if it lives up to my past memories. SB

Tabla had skate on their menu. Call to make sure it's still offered.
