Party of 20 seeks restaurant

  • m

I need to find a restaurant that will accept a reservation for 20 people (who are visiting NYC for a music library convention)for Friday, 23 February, about 7-7:30 p.m. The convention is at the Grand Hyatt Hotel (near Grand Central Terminal), so a restaurant within walking distance would be good. But, everyone is up for taking the subway to Little Italy, Chinatown, Greenwich Village, or any other brief subway ride. Price range should be $25-$30 per person, tops. Any cuisine is OK except some requested "no spicy food."

I am posting to because I would like to give these out-of-towners a "real taste of New York."

I called Carmines, but they canot accept 20 people that night.

Any suggestions?

  1. That's a tall order. Best bet is a local Irish Pub with a private room or dining section. There are several a short walk from the Hyatt. Call the concierge for names. Tell the Pub mgr you can spend $30 tax and tip and see what is offered.
Let us know how you do.

"Jack Sprat" suggested I let the list know what we came up with. Well, I hit paydirt. We got a reservation at the Second Avenue Deli. Legendary New York restaurant, a treat for out-of-towners, great food, reasonable prices, something on the menu for everyone even vegetarians, and gets these visitors out of midtown and into the East Village. I'm happy.
