Tre Pomodori downhill
- Jeremy Osner
This may be old news (I haven't been there in a couple of years) but Tre Pomodori on 34th Street is just bad now. At dinner last night the salad was wilted, the pasta soggy (and cold), not much flavor in the sauce; and the service was exquisitely rude. Oh, and the tira misu tasted like a cheap birthday cake.
Interestingly, we had delivery from Tre Pomodori last night, and the salad was crisp and the pasta hot and, if not wholly al dente, not soggy. Delivery service was brisk and friendly. I have only eaten there (or from there) a few times in the past couple of years, and it's been consistent--consistently not too great, but not completely terrible. The desserts have always been bad, though.
Tre Pomodori is uneven but a decent neighborhood spot. Ironically, last time I was there, instead of getting my usual pasta, I had grilled salmon which turned out to be terrific. The salmon was moist, cooked to order, and was a huge slice. It came with small new potatoes and fresh mixed vegies sauted in olive oil. A great deal for about $10.95.
