Sushi Yasuda is delicious!
- Aaron Tell
I finally made it to Sushi Yasuda last night and it was great! Thanks for the recommendations. I am not an eel-eater so I didn't have any eel or eel bones. The highlights of my meal were wild white salmon and big eye toro sushi. Both were incredible melt in your mouth good.
The sushi chef behind the counter is Chef Yasuda and he was quite genial and welcoming to newcomers as well as regulars. We tried several varieties of yellow tail and of toro, which was a real treat. We started with sashimi of popano (sp?) and sturgeon. I preferred the sturgeon to the popano. We also had a hot appetizer of fried bass to start which was also good, but not as special as the raw fish. The sake was good, and it was nice to end the meal with mochi rice wrapped around red bean ice cream. Yumm. The meal was by no means inexpensive, but it was worth it.
The atmosphere was also very welcoming. The decor is blond wood and very spare; the staff is quite friendly. The clientele was about 2/3 Japanese last night - I don't know if this is typical as it was my first visit, but I hope to go back soon.
