Looking for Indonesian food in NYC

Hi everyone,

First of all, I'm Indonesian, but that doesn't mean I'm picky. :) Believe me, I'm desperate enough for anything that closely resembles Indonesian food. :) I've only been to Bali Nusa Indah several times, and although it is not 100% authentic, it's good and I like the place (both food and service).

So I have a Korean friend who's crazy about Indonesian food. We're going to hit NYC again in about a month, and I'm trying to find a new place.

Any recommendations? I don't know any other place besides Bali Nusa Indah. I read about this Borobudur Cafe, but is it a restaurant or a fast-food joint type? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you everyone.

  1. Hi, Martin--
Search Indonesian food on the Chowhound homepage; there have been a few recent threads on this subject that should help. The most interesting-sounding (to me) is lunch at the Indonesian Consulate on 68th, a recommendation in Jim's book. Hope you and your friend have a great time.
