East 20s

Anyone know of any reasonably priced decent places in the east 20s? (Not the fancy ones like Patria, Union Pacific, and Gramercy Tavern, which are obviously delicious.) I've tried Plate 347; the flavors weren't very well-blended and it's overpriced. I've also tried Gyroland several times and so far only the beef/pork gyro was good; the other dishes were mediocre at best. Any suggestions? Anyone been to Pitchoune, the Provencal place on 3rd and 20th or the Verbena takeout-wine bar near Irving?

  1. Sort of chanced upon Giorgio's of Gramercy (21st bet. B'way and Park S.) one night and considering that it was around 8:30 and we had no reservations they very kindly took us in - wait was not long and made quite pleasant by the bartender. Food was very good (not great) service was warm and caring. I'd recommend it.

Actually, I ate at Pitchoune with a few friends a while back and like it quite a bit.

I had a grilled vegetable plate, which actually had some flavor and interesting veggies - not just the usual suspects slicked with oil.

The service was good, and not snobby either.
