<content>Mill Valley's loss will soon be our gain: The Bay Village Bakery has closed in Mill Valley and will re-open in the next couple of months in the old Lady Baltimore bakery spot near 18th and Dolores.

Bay Village Bakery makes both amazing bread, (all naturally leavened) and pastry.

<content>I think you mean Guerrero. The address for Lady Baltimore was 600 Guerrero St (at 18th St).

<content>Aw, I loved Lady Baltimore. Used to live around the corner.

But I've been wondering about that space for a while, especially since Gourmet's San Francisco issue said a new bakery called Tartine -- formerly called Bay Village Breads -- was open at 600 Guerrero. The phone number that Gourmet listed goes unanswered, and the storefront isn't selling anything yet, but somehow the magazine managed to taste their goods. I'll be excited to try it.

<content>I'm so excited! I loved Bay Village Breads--used to make a special trip to the Berkeley Farmers Market on Tuesday just to get their sesame sourdough, back when they were baking in Pt. Reyes. Their pastries rule, too. I was never a fan of Lady B.--way too much sugar and Crisco for me. The one thing the Mission doesn't have is a good bakery (unless you're a fan of the Mexican-style pan dulces, which I'm not). High time! Now we'll have a great bakery, Bi Rite, and Delfina all in one block.</content>
