  1. Try Broadway panhandlers. I don't know if they have it, but give them a call, they may.

    1. www.chefscatalog.com

      1. There's a Hispanic food/cookware place on W. 14 St. bet. prob. 8th & 9th Ave. (but maybe 7th & 8th). I can't recall the name. I think it starts with "Casa", but, if it's still there, they'll have a tortilla press. Maybe check the Yellow Pages first.

If youre talking about Casa Moneo, forgettabout it - it did have tortilla presses. But its been gone for many years. Woe.

I guess that was it. Thanks.

        2. Folks--this person is a shill, and we've had to spend a lot of time investigating and deleting their spam about their website (they posted questions under one name and "replies" under another).

We've not deleted this whole thread, because there's been some good discussion (we have, of course, deleted the spammy reply).

If you see (and we suspect you will) messages lauding 2fiesta.com, and they linger for a few minutes before we get rid of them, please understand that they're being posted not by earnest chowhounds but by creepy insiders. And the creepy insider people who do this sort of stuff tend NOT to run the high-quality type of operations we chowhounds crave...so chances are we shouldn't hold out much hope for the quality (nor, clearly, the honesty) of that web site.

          Ciao

          1. Kitchen Market on 8th avenue has tortilla presses, as well as a nice cheap cast iron comal [griddle] which fits over 2 burners and is ideal for making tortillas with a nice roasty flavor. (Tortilla presses are cheap and easy to find at most Mexican markets, especially in Jackson Heights, East Harlem, or the Essex St. Market on the LES.)
