I had a great brunch last Sunday at Spencer (W. 18th St between Park Avenue South & Irving Place). It is a small restaurant that seems to be relatively unknown.
My cousin and I started our brunch with currant scones, which were really yummy. I had scrambled eggs over cubed potatos and chunks of corned beef. Delish. My cousin had an omlette that she enjoyed a lot. The atmosphere was quite pleasant and there weren't large lines like at Park Avalon and Friend of a Farmer, both of which are around the corner from Spencer. The staff was very friendly, but still professional. It is worth checking out. (brunch items were $10.50).
I haven't tried dinner, but my cousin went back and she said it was good too.

  1. Sorry to say, but Spencer closed last week.
Spencer, the restaurant and the owner, had a lot of heart but unfortunately had to compete with the 50 other restaurants that opened last season.
