Nyonya vs. Baba?
Where did you end up going?
I've eaten at Nyonya several times. They're inconsistent, but the last time I ate there, everything was truly great.
Yesterday, I ate at Baba for the 2nd time. The food was excellent and seemed pretty much the same as Nyonya.
One thing you have to be careful about is that the wait staff presumes that non-Asians won't like certain types of authentic food. They annoyed me by doing that, and I started speaking with them in Malaysian, whereupon they didn't stop immediately. It seems that if you ask any question, they assume you don't know what you're talking about (the question I was asking was about the description of "petai" as green peas, when it's usually okra; it turned out to be what I know as "kacang panjang"=long beans).
