#1 Sandwich moves to Manhattan

This is in no way an exotic sandwich but it's become almost a tradition when I come New York. Jambon beurre from the little bakery next to Balthazar. Mundane ingredients to be sure, but sweet butter, very fine ham and a great baguette, eaten while sitting on the bench out front is not mundane at all. p.

I make that sandwich for myself every so often with goodies from the Vinegar Factory ('cause it's only 2 blocks from home) -- a crisp baguette, spread with sweet French butter, and a thin layer of good ham or prosciutto. If you close your eyes and put on a Piaf album...
