When Ray's bought the building that had housed Rosario's for fifty years, I thought that Brooklyn pizza in Manhattan was over...I grew up by the slice, thank you, not by the pie. Out Xmas shopping today, I discovered Sal presiding over the beginnings of the new incarnation at Orchard and Stanton. Opening the 9th (unlikely--Sal said he wanted to test the ovens, so that no one said it wasn't as good as before), more likely the 16th.
Cheers to us all (I've lived in the nabe for 20 years)and it's great to see that that, sometimes, one can conquer gentrification!
