Does anyone know what's up with the soup place on 55th st (near b'way)? Think it's called Soup Int'l or something... Anyhow, I tried going there to get lunch today & it's still closed from the summer - or is it closed permanently? I hardly every go there anymore - it's a bit of a trek from where I work & since that Seinfeld episode there's always been an awful line - so I was very surprised to see it closed.

Two weeks ago, their sign said they were opening in late October! Every year, their vacations extend longer and longer--to the point, where I wonder if they are now on a 12 month a year hiatus! Maybe they've become so profitable, they no longer need customers.

I walk by there every day and I have noticed them doing a bit of construction - i.e. new sidewalk in front of Soup Kitchen, renovating the building next door, and a massive something starting up across the street. I would hazard a guess and say that he doesn't want to come back until things calm down a bit. (After all, where's the line going to stand with no sidewalk?)

I just had some (quite good) chicken and broccoli soup from there the other day. So summer at least ends by December.
