At the risk of raising Chowhound contempt - I have the feeling that maki does not get much respect -

Does anyone have recommendation for a sushi place in Manhattan (more specifically downtown)that makes interesting maki? I have read carefully through the recent thread on sushi and see one - Sandobe. I've been to one place - on Long Isand - that has a choice of 30 different rolls and have friends that love this and would love to find a place in NYC.

I would suggest Sandobe. They have good maki. Their rolls are much more interesting than their sashimi or sushi. It's a small place and can get crowded. Enjoy
