Dinner for out of town cousins

  • a

Hope you can help-my cousin and her husband are visiting from Scotland . Want to go somewhere that has very good food and good NYC atmosphere, (The average age of the group is about 42) doesn't have to be cheap but not VERY $$$$. All suggestions appreciated. Thank you.

  1. Hi, Alice
Take a look around this message board and you'll see almost 3000 messages about very good food at all price ranges. Look around, see what you come up with, and feel free to post follow-up messages (or more specific queries). In any case, welcome to, and I hope your cousins have a great visit!

I particularly like The Tonic Restaurant, not the pub,
but the restaurant. The room is very attractive and
the crowd is very New York. Furthermore, the food is
great and the waitstaff is very friendly and
efficient. We have never been disappointed when we
have dined there. In addition, they always recognize
us when we are there. Either we are good tippers or
      we are just memorable.:-)LOL

I like Beacon on 56th between 5th and 6th. Not cheap,
but I thought the food and service were excellent,
particularly the lamb chops and the roasted oysters!

      2. Sorry, I forgot to mention that The Tonic is pricey,
it cost us about 125.00 for dinner for two with
appetizers, main course, wine by the glass (3) each
        and no dessert.

its an incredible deal - easily one of the best values
          in town.
