My wife and I stopped in Vincent's, on Mott and Hester, for old times sake this weekend after a shopping trip to Chinatown. PLEASE NOTE: VINCENT'S NOW OFFICIALLY SERVES THE WORST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN. We used to go down there 20 years ago, when the bar was in the front, the menu was smaller, the sauce was hotter and the value existed. We had calamari cooked to rubber bands, linguine with white clam sauce that could have been anything wet and soft, and the real star of the show, linguine with the worst, most overcooked sausage ever made. Imagine a sausage stuffed with sawdust, kind of like a banger, but with less taste, cooked in pasty tomato sauce for three or four days. My wife was sick the whole next day. Believe me, you really can't go home again. When I think that for what I paid I could have walked around the corner to Wong Kee and had a couple of orders of lobster in black bean sauce, I could plotz.
